Neukloster to Wismar – 17km (day 18)
27C
Terrain: hilly road
So I arrived in the very beautiful Wismar yesterday and have taken the day to enjoy and relax a little.
Yesterday was a nice easy route although it was pretty difficult to leave this place. It was absolutely stunning and could have sat for hours…
Spoiling the view
Wismar is beautiful with narrow cobbled streets, a harbour with massive warehouses, yummy restaurants and organic eateries as well as little boutiques. There are also loads of ice cream cafes (Eiscafe), mmmm. Getting those calories in!
Definitely a place worth visiting.
They also seem to paint all of the ugly electricity boxes with various landscapes, nice touch.
By pure chance I happen to be here during the Outdour Theatre Festival, awesome.
Last night went along to check out the beginning and came across these guys (a choir, a little small in the picture).
Picture a ‘modern’ version of Hallelujah with slightly dubious harmonies and with a chap who looks like Psy (yes, Gangnam Style) rapping energetically at the front. Alternative and original, yes. Made me giggle.
Brilliant festival. Lots of different acts in the street today from circus to drama, comedy and music.
This band called The Beez were brilliant. Very talented musicians from Austrialia, Germany and the US playing great music but with hilarious lyrics (in English, woohoo, was one of the few who could understand). Not sure they’d appreciate this but think of Phoebe from Friends’ lyrics.
I’ve had lovely Skype conversations with my bro, his wife and their beautiful twins as well as my mum. Far far cooler than me she was updating me on MTV music videos! Le monde a l’envers. Love them all loads and loads.
And to top it all off
The wonders of Skype (and MTV). Love you too loads and loads. It was lovely to see Bob again but you my darling are just simply amazing. I am so incredibly proud of you as is gran. So many wonderful experiences in so little time. Keep going!! Give my love to Bob and Winnie. xxxx
Another wonderful update Viv. Am currently having dinner with Tom’s family and telling them all about your amazing adventure. Keep it up, you are a superstar!
Thanks so much Mawgan! Hope you’re having a lovely summer xx
Hi Viv, enjoying the updates. Wow! You seem to be having a great time. Keep it up, and keep posting your progress. All the best. Nick (Capita)
Thanks Nick! Really enjoying it so far. Hope all is well.
Viv
