#Day80 A wonderful few days

Croissy sur Seine to Saint Nom la Breteche – 12km

I’ve just had the most wonderful few days relaxing, catching up with my amazing Mum and seeing people.

We went to our friends Claire and Bruno Didier’s house for dinner one night which was lovely. While not actually family I have known them so long and they have always been so kind, supportive and generous to me that they feel like family. Merci Claire et Bruno!

I also made sure I covered the 12km stretch between the school in Croissy sur Seine to home, no cheating allowed!

Only one pic along the way though and not sure if you can even see La Defense in the background.

One highlight was going back into my old school, the British School of Paris, to speak to five groups of children about this project. It was great fun. I explained what I’ve done so far but spent more time on why I’m undertaking this challenge, especially my grandmother’s refugee story and the plight of refugees more generally today. But also shared the other reasons for doing this, pushing limits, going beyond fear and that I sincerely believe that we can all achieve more than we even think possible.

It was just brilliant, so much enthusiasm from the students. It was also a personal challenge for me to adapt what I was saying to the different age groups as I spoke to children ranging from 10 years old to 18 years old.

You can imagine Bob being quite a hit with the 10 years olds! More interested in him than me!

A massive thank you also to my wonderful friend Jo Skoulikas for a surprise gift that arrived in my mum’s letterbox. A book of inspirational quotes for the rest of the journey, so very thoughtful.

So I’m now all stocked up on supplies and ready to go again.

Back on the road tomorrow but mum’s going to pick me up to spend my last night at home for a while.
