Saint Nom la Breteche to Rambouillet – 32km
20C
Terrain: relatively flat, some cycle paths! And country roads.
Back on the road with shiny new trainers.
Today was actually one of the best days yet in terms of route in France. There were actually cycle paths. I think I’ve officially become a cycle path geek, I can’t tell you how excited I get.
But the big news today is that I am in the newspaper! It’s one called ‘Le Parisien’. The journalist came round to our house yesterday to interview me, take a few pics and I’m actually in the there! I think my Mum might have bough all of the news agent’s stock this morning.
So exciting! (click on the image to make it bigger or the pdf link below – definitely more interesting for those who speak French).
Here is the pdf: Le Parisien
This is all thanks to the amazing Kay Steggles who works at the British School of Paris and has been contacting press about my project on behalf of the school and me, I’m so touched and lucky to have this incredible support. A colleague of my Mum and family friend, her and her family’s support has been phenomenal so far. We were even invited for dinner last night and had a wonderful time with her lovely husband Rob and amazing kids Emma, Matthew and Freddy. Thank you la famille Steggles!
It was nice heading out this morning knowing that I was still coming home. I even discovered a forest with some fantastic trails less than 10 minutes drive from home. It’s funny what you discover doing this type of thing. Anyway, noted for the next time I’m back.
Cycle path!
My legs weren’t too happy about today’s escapade, I think they were under the impression that was it, WRONG! Still a long way to go legs. They’re just going to have to get used to pounding the pavements again.
So tomorrow I’m back on the road properly. It’s going to be tough as it’s been so lovely being surrounded by people for a few days. We’re pretty adaptable beings though so no doubt I’ll quickly adapt to life on the road again.
The last few days have been truly wonderful, I’m so lucky to have amazing family and friends.
I’ve also been thoroughly looked after and spoiled by my mum. I’ve had an amazing time. Mum, thank you. I love you.
bravo pour l’article du parisien! bonne route
je t’embrasse de tout coeur
