Bonneval to Cloyes sur le Loir – 29km
15C
Terrain: lovely countryside roads with some added hills.
Only a few hours sleep last night due to eating something that didn’t quite agree but managed to eat breakfast this morning so off I went with what felt like very tired legs.
It’s on days like this that I find it easier to break the day down into more manageable chunks. I knew I was going through a decent sized town about half way so if I needed to cut the day short I would. As it turned out, once I got there, I felt like continuing so onwards I went.
I’ve spent the day crossing the Loir river at various points which has been lovely despite the hills in between.
I also came across my first Loir valley chateau towards the end today.
I’ve been looking forward to this stretch due to the scenery. However, by the end it was absolutely chucking it down so despite the beauty around me, photos weren’t too much of an option. A shame really.
I’ve been pretty lucky with the weather these past few weeks so I can’t really complain and fortunately, I stocked up on some waterproof gear during my break in Paris so I am all prepared as is Bob. A good job really as I think the rain is here to stay for the rest of the week, boo!
I really am managing to avoid the busy roads on this stretch in fact on many of the roads I am using, I hardly come across any cars at all. So much better and while it no doubt adds some kilometers, I’m much happier this way than I was coming up to Paris on those pretty treacherous stretches.
I continue following the Loir river tomorrow and should end up in a place called Vendome which I’ve heard good things about, bring it on!
bravo encore pour ces belles courses malgré la pluie! ici aussi nous avons perdu 10 degrés comparés à ceux de samedi
Je suis contente que tu aies pu admirer la cathédrale de Chartres haut lieu marial pour nous chrétiens catholiques
