Cloyes sur le Loir to Vendome – 35km
15C
Terrain: pretty flat country roads.
I started in torrential rain this morning and it pretty much continued until I got here in a pretty soggy state and then the sun came out! Gutted. A lovely afternoon though and I had a chance to wander round until the clouds came back.
I followed the Loir for much of today although it wasn’t always in sight. Fortunately, I didn’t have any off-road bits today as it could have been pretty muddy!
Of course!
It certainly makes me realise how fortunate I am with all of my waterproof kit. I have waterproof bags, I have waterproof clothing (although the trousers get a bit soggy). While it’s not much fun, I do always think about refugees who find themselves in similar situations but with nothing. It’s difficult to imagine what the conditions must be like at times.
Vendome is small but again, a very beautiful place. An old chateau on a hill with some wonderful views and an Abbey.
Before the rain came back.
It has a lovely quaint feeling and I’ve also found myself in a lovely Airbnb. It’s a family home and the mother, Sabine, is really kind, I’m sitting here eating her home made pumpkin soup (yum!). On top of that she’s a photographer and cameraman, working in the film industry. How cool is that!
Keep going Viv, love reading your blogs 🙂
