Vinaros to Alcoceber – 34km
18C
Terrain: roads and off road
After a short stretch on the busy N340 (not particularly pleasant), I was back along the seafront for a fair distance.
To begin…
…but then…
But what I’m most excited about today is what came next. An absolutely stunning 15 to 20 kilometers along the coast, no cars, barely any people (I did meet four French hikers from la Drome, lovely people), just Bob and I most of the time. Had to work to get up some pretty steep hills and then ahhhh, you see this.
Waves crashing against the rocks, small alcove beaches, mountains in the background, greens, yellows, blues, greys, a moody sky. It was quite possibly some of the most stunning scenery I have seen so far and feel incredibly lucky to have experienced it.
Couldn’t resist a short video to share this (sorry about sound quality!).
I get so much energy from being in nature like this. It makes such a change to the busy roads I’ve been finding myself on.
Back in the concrete jungle now though. Almost everything is closed due to the season but heyho, today was AMAZING.
For anyone interested in trail running or cycling and who happens to visit this part of Spain, head to the stretch between Peniscola and Alcoceber, it will be worth it!
A couple of shorter days now to help the old achilles…
hey glad to see the stunning coast line & hear in your blog your raised spirits. Take care of that Achilles heel & don’t push your body to hard. See you on Skype on Saturday for the boys party. Go Viv Go.
