Montesa to la Font de la Figuera – 31km

Terrain: roads and offroad
What a day.
Quite proud of myself today, while the distance wasn’t enormous, the vast majority was climbing and pushing my 35kg companion Bob uphill. The end was a particular killer, felt vertical, ouch! Tired legs but I think, if I’m not mistaken, today should have been one of the hardest days overall. We’ll see…
So I started off in the sunshine, pretty chilly but clear blue skies so I’m not complaining. Today was largely offroad and quite beautiful really, surrounded my mountains (not big ones though). Amazing to be in nature and breathe in the scents.
And then this…
Tried to go round, no go. Solution, off came the shoes and socks and I pushed Bob through!
FREEZING! Short term pain for long term gain is all I kept telling myself. Didn’t really document this incident enough as I just wanted to get my socks and shoes back on. Hilarious really, first time that’s happened.
After numerous climbs I finally arrived here in a small hostal. The next thing I know the hostal owner (Victor) is inviting me to lunch which I kindly accept but didn’t think too much more of it apart from how kind he was.
So after cleaning up, the next thing I know, I’m invading their family lunch for the fiesta that happens to be going on at the moment. About 16 of them and little old me! It gets better, after food, everyone broke into song! Amazing. Such wonderfully kind and warm people.

Then off we went to see the fiesta (I hadn’t even realised it was a public holiday here today, oops!).
Lots and lots of photos.
que de personnes chaleureuses tu rencontres
je t’embrasse
