La Font de la Figuera to Yecla – 34km
9C
Terrain: roads and offroad
Today was tough and I was a little surprised at the amount of climbing I ended up doing! Heyho.
I felt like I dug into some mental reserves today. I went through a place about half way and was genuinely tempted to stop. That doesn’t happen very often. It was pretty chilly (I think 2C when I left this morning) and windy. Given I knew the rest was uphill I had to wrestle with my mind a little.
So instead of stop, I took a 15 minute break in a café. Rehydrated with a bottle of water and then the waitress came over with coffee on the house. No mention of what I was doing at all, she just said that it was cold outside so I needed to warm up. I did look a little like I was dressed for arctic conditions! Lovely kindness.
Then head down (but looking out for lorries!) and one foot in front of the other. I didn’t document too much today, it was a little chilly to keep getting my fingers out but essentially I was surrounded by mountains and it was very beautiful. Quite a barren landscape most of the way. Then after lots of “gentle” climbing, a last downhill stretch towards Yecla where I’m staying tonight.
As an amazing plus, I found out today that an amazing friend is coming out here this weekend. So excited!!!
bravo pour ton énergie dans toutes ces montées et en plus le froid qui s’installe!
prend soin de toi
je t’embrasse

It’s getting cold here too in Paris Viv but I’m sure it’s nothing like as cold being on the road. Where do you stay when you get to your destination? Do you have to organise it beforehand? Would love to know how you manage? Good to see Bob is doing well too! Hope the weather is being kind to you there. Xx
